About the Jai Style

Jai Yoga is a vinyasa yoga practice influenced by Astanga, JivaMukti, and Prana Vinyasa. The class emphasizes the use of Ujjai breath, and meditative mind for a powerful physical practice and deeply restorative experience. Each class contains a brief dharma discussion, Ohm, occasional chanting, sun salutes, and asanas paired with a dynamic flow of vinyasa. The All Flow classes move at a medium pace, and the Easy Flow moves at a slower pace. In both classes we flow from one pose to the next without a lot of talk time between postures, yet alignment cues are given while in the postures as well as inspirational connection to the philosophy behind yoga. The emphasis is on a holistic and blissful experience of the mind heart and body.

Welcome To Jai!
Jai Yoga Arts is a local favorite, which opened in 2011 with a mission to offer inspiring yoga classes and a space for social connections. The Jai style is a mergence of owner Ella Luckett's training in Ashtanga, JivaMukti, and Prana Yoga, as well as influences from the Kundalini and Yoga Vedanta traditions. Classes are a vinyasa based flow with elements of meditation, philosophy, and pranayama. Ella's 14 years of teaching experience, is coupled with her team of emerging talented teachers whose dedication to the Jai community make for a uniquely cohesive atmosphere. Jai also offers a Yoga Alliance certified, 200hr Teacher Training program, as well as enriching workshops throughout the year. Come see how relaxed and easy this place is. All are welcome, and no, you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga!
How Jai Got started....
Seeds
As a young dancer, FREEDOM was what I felt when I moved in space and time to music. As I got more serious about my dance studies, I found layers of perfectionism, competition, and body image started to weigh me down.
Dance had lost it's creativity and freedom by succumbing to the stress of ego and a constant of striving to "be better" instead of being present. When I stumbled upon yoga I rediscovered freedom of movement. In my very first class.
My teacher told us to check our ego's at the door, to not judge ourselves good or bad. Those words brought me back into the joy of pure body movement. I felt free again! I did my first Teacher Training that same year, and with out knowing it, launched into my now 15 year career. After 10 years of teaching at dozen's of venues on the west and east coast, I opened Jai Yoga Arts Opened with the help of some very special people...
Spirit
lp me realize this dream, and it took about a year, but first Emily Snyder entered the picture, followed by Katie Rosenthal, and then by over a dozen dedicated passionate and wonderful Jai teachers. These dear friends removed obstacles (mostly my own fear!) and gave me the courage to keep moving forward on this dream. (Emily and Katie in pic to left)
Soil

Now we just needed the space. The very first place we looked at was a raw, sunny, and open warehouse in the perfect location near the train!
Water
My parents threw their hat into the ring, by offering what financial support they could, while rolling up their sleeves to help clean, drill, paint, and construct to transform this raw space into a beautiful homey atmosphere. They are still my constant sounding board, and their excitement helped keep me going in the face of this huge undertaking.
Manifestation
have completed the picture. So many wonderful people have come through, on their life's journey. I am so grateful for this experience, and everyone in it with me. We now have an awesome place to practice, play, hang out, gather, learn, grow, and make new connections. It's everything I dreamed of and more, so come check us out. One person at a time, we're building a community, and you are invited!!!
